Primary Responsibilities Purpose of Job: (Two positions available) Supplemental Instructor (SI) will audit Introduction to Physical Fitness and Sport (KINE1302), Motor Development (KINE3302), or Exercise Physiology (KINE3305) for the Fall 2024 semester and hold tutoring/study sessions to discuss the key concepts and provide additional support to the enrolled undergraduates. SIs will build relationships with students taking the course and help increase student pass rates, and thus success in the STEM program. The SIs will then provide subject-specific academic tutoring, as well as more general tutoring and skill building workshops for their assigned students to help guide success in college and career.

Duties and Responsibilities :
- Audit their assigned course through the semester.
- Hold group study sessions, open to all students in the course.
- Offer individual tutoring sessions at the request of a student in the course.
- Work with the course instructor to create a continuous idea of understanding between class materials and study sessions.
- Create supplemental study materials for exams/quizzes/etc.
- Arrive to work on time as decided by mentor.
- Log work hours successfully and promptly.

Supervision :
Direct supervision from course instructor for the respective course the Supplemental Instructor is selected for: Dr. Billy Jack Ray for Introduction to Physical Fitness and Sport (KINE 1302), Dr. Hugh Morrissey for Motor Development (KINE 3302), and Mr. Doug Renshaw for Exercise Physiology (KINE 3305).
STEM Supplemental Instructor Program:
This position is part of the Title III STEM Lobotrack to Success (LTS) Supplemental Instructor Program. The purpose of the Supplemental Instructor Program is to support undergraduate STEM students through the more challenging courses in the different degree plans offered by the Agriculture, Life and Physical Sciences (ALPS) college. For gatekeeping courses (i.e., those identified as presenting an outsized barrier to student success in and/or acceptance into their preferred STEM major field coursework), Supplemental Instructors (SIs) will be recruited from high achieving upper classman students who have taken the same course in the past or graduate students. All other duties are assigned unique to the department. Responsible for the personal safety and the safety of others. This position is security sensitive.
