Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction | San Antonio, TX

The Opportunity

A well-established Texas heavy civil contractor is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale TxDOT infrastructure projects throughout the region. With a solid backlog and a reputation for delivering on schedule and within budget, this role offers the chance to influence the success of major projects while working with a highly skilled team.

Role Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing every stage of construction, including planning, scheduling, cost management, subcontractor coordination, and client engagement. This position requires strong leadership, in-depth knowledge of TxDOT standards, and the ability to guide complex projects to safe, efficient, and profitable completion.

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct project teams in developing schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Supervise field activities with a focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proactively identify challenges, implement solutions, and mitigate risks.
• Oversee project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, and pay applications.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with owners, engineers, and project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8–10+ years of heavy civil construction experience, including at least 3 years managing TxDOT projects.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven track record of completing projects on time and on budget.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
